The USA's federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is responsible for ensuring the security of all modes of transportation, including cargo placed aboard airplanes. TSA mandates special security tape, stickers, and seals.

A) CCSF Labels — The TSA has established printing standards for the labels and hang tags used for CCSF applications. All the CCSF labels listed on our website comply with these standards.
B) CCSF Tamper Evident Tapes — The TSA does not certify specific tamper evident tapes in advance, nor do they have specific standards for tape.
Rather, the prospective Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF) location requests tape samples (from the tape manufacturer) of what they intend to use for their facility. During the certification process, the tapes are tested by the TSA to confirm their acceptance and compliance.
Currently, we sell our tamper evident tapes to hundreds of CCSF-customers, who used our tapes to successfully complete the CCSF certification process for their facility. Therefore, we recommend using the same tapes, which have been successfully certified by other companies.
Here is the list of our tamper evident tapes (by product code prefix) which have been successfully certified by other CCSF companies:

- CCSF-PVT series (replaced CCSF-PST series)
To our knowledge, we have never had a reported issue for TSA certification and compliance for any of the above tapes.

TSA's goal is to screen 100% of air cargo, particularly cargo on planes that also carry passengers.
- The implementation date for screening 100% of the cargo on domestic passenger planes was August 2010.
- The implementation date for screening inbound international passenger flights was December 2012.
A key component of this strategy is the Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP). The CCSP is a facility based program for supply chain entities located within the United States. Facilities that successfully apply and participate in the CCSP program will be designated as Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (CCSF) and must adhere to TSA mandated security standards.
Any facility that tenders cargo directly to an air carrier or indirect air carrier may apply to become a CCSF. This includes:

- Warehouses
- Distribution Centers
- Third Party Logistics Providers
- Indirect Air Carriers
- Airport Cargo Handlers
- Independent Cargo Screening Facilities

The TSA does not require tamper evidence for the cargo stickers, however we offer a tamper evident version (constructed of polyester film) as an option for added security.

CCSF Tamper Evident Tape
Our CCSF tape features a graphic design and is sold only to TSA certified facilities. For added security, the tape includes a unique, preassigned serial number every 9 inches. After affixing to the carton, if the tape is cut, the printed diagonal lines help indicate tampering -- they will be misaligned and/or a small gap will appear at the carton seam.
If the tape is removed, the hidden pattern "OPENED" will appear on the carton and in the tape itself. The tape cannot be re-aligned and the box cannot be re-sealed without leaving these signs of tampering. At temperatures of 60F and above, the hidden tamper evident message (OPENED) is functional within 1 minute after affixing to the shipping carton and with minimal fiber tear to the carton. Optional custom designs and colors are available.

CCSF Security Tape, High Residue Formula, Opaque Orange, 2 in x 250 ft, CCSF-PVT2OR-227D-250
Yellow CCSF tape has a high residue formulation which is designed for wax-coated cartons typically used for shipping frozen and refrigerated foods.
This tape also works well on corrugated cartons, recycled cartons, shrink wrap, stretch wrap, textured surfaces, most plastics and other low surface energy surfaces.
For automatic tape machines, the high residue formula may require lower application speeds.
