Our non-residue security labels are proven-in-use as an effective tool to combat tampering at gasoline dispensers and credit card readers.
When removed, the security label shows the words VOID OPEN in the label film.
- Apply to access hatches and doors, to indicate if credit card skimming equipment has been inserted inside the gas dispenser.
- Apply to the dispenser credit card reader to provide visual authentication that a 'skimmer overlay' is not present*
- Apply to inside POS terminals to provide visual authentication that a 'skimmer overlay' is not present*
When removed, the security labels do not leave any adhesive residue on the gas dispenser surface. So there is no messy adhesive and no time-consuming clean up.
Our non-residue labels for gas stations also feature two unique anti-counterfeiting features to combat fake substitutions:
- a printed watermark that is visible with the naked eye; the watermark also fluoresces when exposed to black light
- the hidden VOID OPENED pattern fluoresces when exposed to black light.
This is a one-time use product, which is suitable for outdoor applications.
If your station uses Wayne dispensers with heavily-textured plastic access panels, also consider the optional affixing pads.
* NOTE: If a skimmer overlay is installed, the security label will NOT be visible (or may be missing). If the label was removed and affixed to the skimmer, the label will show the VOID OPENED message.

All of our gasoline dispenser labels have a unique serial number. We track and record the serial numbers shipped to each customer location. For increased security, your security protocol should include recording the serial number and confirming the serial number as the labels are replaced.

Developments to Increase Payment Security at Retail Gas Stations
DeSantis Signs Bill Increasing Gas Pump Security to Deter Credit Card Skimmers (June 2021) – By January 1, 2022, Florida retailers must include pressure-sensitive security tape, physical locks with unique keys, an alarm system and devices to let customers use contactless payment methods.
Gas Station EMV Liability Shift (June 2021) – As of April 2021, the financial liability for card fraud perpetrated at automated fuel dispensers and other sites will fall on any merchant who isn't using EMV-enabled chip readers for card transactions.

- Clean the Surface -- The surface must be clean and dry. If needed for improved adhesion, use iso-propyl alcohol (minimum 90%) to clean contaminants from the surface. Dry surface with a clean paper towel before affixing the label.
- Application Temperature --When applied, the surface temperature must be greater than +20F. Use supplemental heating for lower temperatures if needed to assure the initial adhesion is sufficient.
- Apply seals on all access hatches and doors. Affix the label so a minimum of 1 inch label length is on each surface (see diagrams below):

C) Stock Affixing Pads for Gas Pump Security Labels
- Confirm the Surface - If used on powder coated metal, test in a low visibility area first. The high strength adhesive may remove the painted surface if the paint bond is marginal.
- Clean the Surface - The surface must be clean and dry. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean any contaminants from the surface. Dry the surface with a clean paper towel before affixing the label.
- Application Temperature -The ideal temperature to apply is between 70°F and 100°F. To accelerate adhesive curing and build strength quickly, use supplemental heat up to 130°F for 1 minute. If applied at temperatures less than 70°F, use supplemental heat to assure the initial adhesion is sufficient.
- Cleaning Adhesive Residue - If the affixing pad is removed, it will reveal the hidden security message in the film and leave adhesive residue on the surface. The adhesive residue can be removed with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Keep clear of any ignition sources when using flammable solvents.

Affixing pads are an optional companion product for use with our non-residue security labels. The affixing pad is positioned on the target surface first, which provides a more compatible surface for the non-residue label. The non-residue label is applied onto the affixing pad, which helps to solve some issues for difficult surfaces:
- For low energy surfaces (such as smooth plastic, textured plastic, powder-coated paint, etc.) apply an affixing pad to increase the performance of the tamper evident feature.
- For high energy surfaces (such as bare stainless steel, PVC plastic, etc.) apply an affixing pad to extend the time duration for non-residue performance.
Leave the affixing pads in place for repeated use and replace the non-residue security labels according to your security protocol.
Most notably, in the retail gas market, the "Wayne" dispenser panel features a highly textured plastic surface, which may impair the tampering performance of the stock security labels. Although our stock non-residue security labels are proven-in-use with the Wayne dispensers, using affixing pads on the textured surface improves the tampering performance of the standard security label by making it more foolproof.
The affixing pad is also tamper evident. If removed, it will leave a tamper message (VOID OPENED) as adhesive residue on the surface and in the label film.

D) Blocker Dots
Blocker Dots are a device to physically obstruct the application of an 'overlay' skimmer on the dispenser credit card reader or a POS Terminal.
The standard blocker dot is black polycarbonate plastic with a high strength adhesive. Each dot is laser etched with a unique pre-assigned serial number. These dots are not tamper evident. The standard dot is sold in packages of 24 units.
For added security:
- The blocker dots can also be custom laser-etched with your custom text, logo and serial number
- The blocker dots can be used with a companion hologram label or security label
Guidelines To Detect Tampering on your POS terminal or credit card reader:
- Record the original serial numbers and confirm the numbers when the blocker dot or security label is replaced
- Confirm daily if the blocker dot is missing, not visible, or has a different serial number
- Confirm daily If the companion security label is missing, not visible, has a different serial number or shows evidence of tampering.
